Glenelg were approached by a local entrepreneur with the goal of designing a sous vide cooker for the mass market. Consequently, the proposed design had to provide all of the functionality of professional units whilst being aesthetically suitable for the home kitchen environment.
Glenelg developed the product from initial concept through to prototyping, and managed all aspects of bringing the product to market. For example, we handled briefing and oversight of the electronics design and incorporation into the product. Our in-house team developed the graphic interface design for the keypad display, liaising with suppliers for sampling and manufacture. We also produced product literature and user instructions.
Additionally, we sourced and oversaw manufacturing of component parts in China. We liaised with local companies to provide packaging and oversight of marketing tools to realise the Burton brand. Finally, we oversaw CE accrediation for the finished product.
The Burton Sous Vide Cooker is now available to purchase online through major retailers including Amazon, receiving positive reviews from both consumers and press.
“It’s stylish, modern, hardly takes up any room and it’s a real time-saver because you don’t have to stand over it all the time…because it’s the ultimate in hands-free cooking.”
